Set bonuses With the release of Test Realm came a new feature for those who love to optimize their gear and gear: Gear Set Bonuses. The player will get additional bonuses when they complete a certain armor set. They can be as little as a minor boost, or as extensive as a complete buff to the set. There are currently only a handful of sets with bonus options, but the list is expected grow quickly. The set bonus will remain in effect as long as the gear is worn. Mods and other equipment will only have specialized effects when they are used. Additionally the set bonus won't be affected by other mods or gear that are in your inventory. If you roll the gear again or mods, the set bonus will be lost since it's tied to mods to the item within the particular item that grants it. There are currently 20 visible Set bonuses available in Breath of the wild, as well as two set bonuses hidden in Tears of the Kingdom. These special effects can replace Added Effect names in your inventory and may overlap with some of the original Added Effects. If you roll the gear to a level lower than the power which provided them with their Added effects and they cease to work. Also, if you re-roll your power to three levels lower than the power you have currently the Added Effects will cease to function. The same is true of set bonuses, but if you soul-match the ethereal versions of these items with any normal version of the same set bonus, you'll be eligible for the + version of the Set Bonus (which is denoted by a star in the Added Effects window). The same is true for other sets of accessories with set bonuses. It is important to note that not all sets come with a set bonus; it is typically limited to PvP gear from the Warzone vendor, and a few World gear. A red banner will appear in the Added Effects section if a gear set contains the set bonus.
