WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item Level Upgrade used for the upgrade item will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrades will be based on the current level of the item being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor using the help of button, which will show an item's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and some new features added. After an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is even if the items are from an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have a number of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you should know that Crests are only available to equipment that is with a certain rank. Each rank has a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the type or gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulty levels to obtain lower-level gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade items paths and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when an item reaches the highest level of upgrade items for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
