10 Things We All Do Not Like About Item Upgrades
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a common and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to the more modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their high demands.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they are connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged by using an expert or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrades from the items.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon will absorb is contingent on the degree of upgrades. The damage absorption of an armor piece will increase when it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and each one has distinct effects. Certain upgrades grant armor an additional amount of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade an item upgrader Mod can be given, as illustrated below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a charge to use, which are shown by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades change daily or never expire, according to the upgrade.
Iron Ore is the cheapest method to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small chests. Titanium is more expensive, but it can be obtained from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to higher level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant boost in stats, and are well worth the cost.
A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense capabilities however, the user must be aware that putting on weight can drastically decrease its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The defensive boost gained usually isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain firearms also have enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).
Most weapon upgrades require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons, and a whetblade for applying. These are obtained through either completing Side Quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific amount of bars. The higher the upgrade level, the more bars required to complete it. If you have multiple upgrade materials, the cost of upgrading will be less.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, after which the upgrades would reset.
This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. It is better to purchase gear with low levels of upgrade, but high base scores and stat distributions. They will also have a better chance of bringing you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.
To increase their level faster, many players prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons their teammates use to make them stronger. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to make it more useful when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are placed in the armor's sockets and weapons, increasing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be created using an process known as jewelry crafting, where you combine a gem and a number of specific reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.
The Jeweler can improve the quality of the gem in stages that range from Crude up to Royal. The boosts to stats will differ depending on the level the jewel is at when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons, or equipment.
All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for them. Jewels can be replaced by another one without damaging the original. However it is only possible to replace a jewel in an equipment piece only once.
It is normal to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. The jewels also improve performance and create a harder surface than steel so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not damage them.
In addition to the upgrades mentioned above, the player can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These provide a small bonus and are able to be swapped easily however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis aren't swappable and can only be retrieved using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that provide many small, but beneficial advantages to your hero. They can be obtained in the starter areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and by completing road interactions. They may also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased from the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which grants a small, but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar way to how a player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of equipment has a slot for an upgrade which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.
These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows the hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also compensate for the absence of good slots in the team or talent tree which would normally be filled by a hero's top stats.
A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader-in-Slot) items that you will not replace soon, followed by items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item upgrader mod that is being upgraded. This is especially true if you're looking to upgrade several statistics on an item upgrader kit. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat than two less important ones.
In the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket into a red one in the middle and top players typically choose a green or pink ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can affect the ability of a hero to control the map.
Apart from the items listed above, players can also discover a variety of other trinkets in the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, finishing the main quest for a chapter or beating an opponent. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
