World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost the rarity of an item or mark Level, and also boost other stats.

The process of upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a certain amount.

Item Level

When an item is upgraded, its stats increase in value. The value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrading items can be expensive, depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be altered to upgrade an item.

It can also be used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items in the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item's level.

On PC, you can view the item level by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories on how the calculation of an item's level is made. One theory is that the item level is a numerical value derived from a formula that determines the amount an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that different perks have different values, and also that gems in sockets increase the value of the Best item upgrade overall. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl, which is usually close to Blizzard's actual level of the item.

This is not the only factor that influences the ilvl of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may change its stats. For example it can increase the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the Best item upgrade." The base stats of a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification which are then boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item upgrading may increase its stats. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. A grey or white item for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with more expensive costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could be used to give the item extra damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving the dead or cutting down the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving a special name to the item.

Currently, all affixes can be changed by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using the arrows that circle. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other rerolling options.

Players can choose to upgrade an item by a specific stat, or reroll the affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat within the range, unless they are an exclusive item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another aspect that can be modified by adding an option to upgrade the equipment without rerolling the affixes or deciding which stats to boost. But, like base equipment, this would have to be performed on a per-item basis and the item compare interface wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items as well as the properties generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives players the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is more advantageous in the early game, because players tend to put the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance, which increases with each item level and can be further increased through the use of an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck, or to increase the Luck of an item, up to 140.

Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that causes damage by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop, or they can be constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be costly and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their items if it does not work.

The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can also influence the success of an upgrade. Every item has a success rate of 25 percent, and each item that has Luck increases this chance by 5percent.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obstructed by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader (you could try this out) CORE client config.
