Path of Exile Item Upgrades

item upgrade upgrades are a common and essential way to boost the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to modernized Common or Magic equipment due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both weapon and armor items. They improve the stats of the item upgrader they are connected to. Armor upgrades are found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kits to recover upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase when it's upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, which means it must be more heavy.

There are several kinds of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of health points while others make it lighter and stronger. The name of the upgrade will tell you the kind of upgrade an item can receive, as shown below.

A few of the upgrades are also magical or a combination of technology and magic, which is indicated by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Certain upgrades also require fees in order to be used. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are updated daily or never expire based on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is by using Iron Ore, which can be found through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can give a significant increases in stats and are worth the investment.

Upgrading a piece of armor to its maximum upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense values however, the user must be aware that putting on weight will dramatically reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power costs of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces weapon overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's acceleration to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades to weapons require three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade. These are obtained through either completing Side Quests, killing a certain amount of monsters or bosses, or from the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.

To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain amount of bars. The more bars you need to complete an upgrade the higher the level. The cost of the upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your equipment and weapon sets was a bit different. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would reset.

It's still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off visiting stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels, but good base scores and stat distributions. These will have a better chance of bringing you the most prestigious perks and blessings.

The majority of players will prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they are most likely to use to help them level up quicker. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons they use with their squadmates to make them more powerful as well. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will increase its utility when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are used in the armor's sockets and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gem, the better its secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The Jeweler can boost the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Depending on the tier of the gem it can provide different stat boost when slotted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

The Jeweler can craft the highest levels of gems apart from the rare and legendary ones that you must be at a certain level to get. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. However, you can only replace one jewel in an equipment piece only once.

It is normal to use more gems for aesthetic reasons. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, so repeated friction from pivots won't cause damage as easily.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your weapons and shields. These provide a small bonus and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs are also removed from the inventory, and they are returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like aegis and traits, are not swappable, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage Tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are small pieces of equipment that offer a wide range of tiny but valuable benefits to your hero. They are available in the starter area as rewards for personal stories or loot. They are also available through vendors and after the completion of road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased on the Trading Post.

The first trinkets that a player is able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. The player can then collect necklaces, amulets, and rings, in a similar way similar to how they obtained weapons and armor. Every piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and are able to be used on any piece of equipment. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets can also grant bonuses and abilities that are active whenever the hero is not fighting. This allows the hero to become more efficient even when not in combat. It can also compensate for the absence of good slot in the talent tree or team that are normally filled by the hero's best stats.

As a general rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace soon. Also, consider items with desirable statistics that are less significant than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item upgrade. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat rather than two suboptimal ones.

Jungle players usually upgrade their yellow trinket to a red one at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand, will choose a pink or green ward, depending on the game's matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the form of trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be earned through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, finishing the main quest of a chapter or beating an opponent. You can view them by clicking on the achievement in the reward section of the hero's menu.
