World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's base stats increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive, dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the number of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

The level of an item is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It can also be used to determine a gating condition when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is capped at a lower level). The average item upgrading level can be found in the character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can evaluate the level of an item. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done using the item's level.

The item level can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item upgrader's full description, including ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are many theories about how the level of an item is calculated. One theory is that the level is a number derived from a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers that different benefits are valued differently and that gems found in sockets boost the value of the item. This can lead to an item's ilvl which is calculated and is usually very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

However, this isn't the only factor that can affect an item's ilvl as the size of the area the item dropped in can change the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

The stats of an item are a major part of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the most effective." The stats of a base weapon are increased by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves boosted by the player's level.

Upgrades to an item can increase the stats of an item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, while items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times at higher prices.

Another method to alter the stats on an item is through affixes. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to give items additional damage or other special abilities (such as the ability to revive dead or reduce cooling downs) or to differentiate them by naming them.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may select which of the available stats they want to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible ranges of stats for an item are based on the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least one stat within the specified range, unless it is an exclusive item or a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll attaches, or select which stats to boost. Like base equipment, it will have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn't display all possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items as well as the properties created by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or ability to upgrade items. It merely gives players a chance to upgrade their equipment in earlier waves, and is therefore more useful in the early game than in later ones, as most players prioritize more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading that increase with each level of the item. It is also possible to be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned by using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of the item up to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be used to boost the damage of any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be purchased in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it is not successful.

When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special materials. The probability of success can only be increased by so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%..

The performance of an upgrade is also affected by the Luck of that item. Each item has an initial success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.

The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This can obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
