WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrade by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or very high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. However, the item used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date it is recommended you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item level upgrade from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any tool, weapon or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Item upgraders can be found in many places on the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that can be used to upgrade must be acquired through various methods that are both an improvement and a drawback.

In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a particular item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will cost less, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones have been reached.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific level upgrades for items. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can then be exchanged with an item upgrader mod upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.

The use of these currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest level possible for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next round of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
