Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to upgrade their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost the base stats of the item upgrade or giving additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while objects with strong bases, such as eth titans do not vary in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute benefit, or additional effect, when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players must select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade stats and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, can be put on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type limitation. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with a different one the previous glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will damage it, with the exception of inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system differs from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, however the materials required do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a select few items and maximize the effect of those items rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.

This will allow the item to receive new upgrade components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it resets to 0 after failure or increases if the upgrade is successful.

After a piece has been upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For example an uncommon or exclusive weapon that has a standard base will have only two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.

Each upgrade process will require a specific amount of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is located in. Weapons typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item level upgrade fails to get to its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of materials. However, it has a lower rate of success.

Engineers will employ a level to measure the height of the building against an established point, like an existing benchmark. This method is known as a "level-loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with a high degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial part of the game and can boost an item's damage, strength, or other attributes. This can be done via the item level upgrade menu or using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in rare cases.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or another item of the same type. Recyclable items have a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and upgrade cost of the item.

In the past, some upgrade items had priority affixes that made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats for your build more frequently than others. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for every stat. This can be either good or bad, based on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.

Each upgraded item may come with a bonus that boosts the power of the item by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the better your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also includes number set that grants an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on a unit. This is an excellent method to add a lot of power to a specific character without spending lots of money.

Many players opt to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling is a method to get a more powerful character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and reach higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are collections of elements that can be arranged in different ways. They can have various sizes, contain no elements at all or have a single element. They can be used for organizing data or sorting information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways such as size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an extensive selection of upgradeable set items. Some items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets with high defense and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not boost the item's stats much in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already extensive.

Set items can be upgraded to include unique functions that are beneficial for certain builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).

Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to parity with their counterparts in their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower level items can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the items required to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed together with any required items. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to see the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when they are updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature spell/weapon damage glyphs, upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will provide a significant improvement in their stats. It will also boost the defense value of armor with an updated appearance.
